What is Ambrotaxer?
Mucolytic drug, thins secretions in the airways and facilitates its removal.
What does Ambrotaxer contain and how does it work?
The active substance of the preparation is Ambroxol
. Ambroxol increases the secretion of mucus in the airways, reduces its viscosity and improves the function of the cilia of the respiratory epithelium, and thus dilutes the obstructing secretion and improves its transport. In this way, it helps to clear the airways, facilitates expectoration, does not disturb the natural cough reflex.
When should I use Ambrotaxer?
The preparation is indicated in acute and chronic lung and bronchial diseases with difficulty in expectoration of viscous mucus in the airways.
When not to use this preparation?
Unfortunately, even if there are indications to use the preparation, it can not always be used. You can not use the preparation if you are allergic (you are hypersensitive) to any of the ingredients.
Take special care with Ambrotaxer?
Certain diseases and other circumstances may constitute a contraindication to use or indication to change the dosage of the preparation. In some situations it may be necessary to carry out specific check-ups. Therefore, before using the preparation you should consult a doctor if you have a weak cough reflex or ciliary clearing disorder.
If, after 5 days of using the preparation, the health condition is not improved, a doctor should be consulted.
Occasionally, the use of the preparation may be associated with the appearance of severe skin lesions: Stevens and Johnson syndrome, erythema multiforme and toxic necrosis. These states are life-threatening. If there are any changes in the skin or mucous membranes, it is necessary to immediately consult a physician and immediately prevent the cessation of the use of the preparation.
In the case of renal dysfunction or severe hepatic failure, the preparation may be used only after consultation with a physician. He will probably recommend halving the dose and limiting the duration of treatment to a maximum of 5 days.
Due to the fact that mucolytics may damage the gastric mucosa, the preparation should be used with caution in people with a history of peptic ulcer and / or duodenal ulcer.
Additional information about the other ingredients of the preparation:
- the preparation contains sorbitol; people with hereditary, rare fructose intolerance should not use it
- the preparation contains methyl and propyl parahydroxybenzoate (preservatives); they may cause allergic reactions (possible late-type reactions)
- the preparation contains propylene glycol; you can trigger reactions similar to alcohol
Does this preparation affect the ability to drive vehicles?
There are no studies on the effect of the preparation on the ability to drive and use machines / machines. Be careful.
Dosage of Ambrotaxer
The preparation is in the form of a syrup. It is intended for oral use.Do not exceed the recommended doses because it will not increase the effectiveness of the drug and may harm your health and life. If you have any doubts regarding the use of the preparation, consult a physician.
Adults and children over 12 years old. Initially 60 mg 2 times a day for 2-3 days, then the dose can be reduced to 30 mg 2 times a day; the maximum dose is 120 mg per day.
Children. 6.-12. age. 15 mg (5 ml of syrup) 2-3 times a day.
Children 2.-6. age. 7.5 mg (2.5 ml syrup) 3 times a day.
Children 1.-2. age. 7.5 mg (2.5 ml syrup) 2 times a day.
The preparation should be taken during meals.
Can Ambrotaxer be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
During pregnancy, do not use any medicine without consulting your doctor!
It is very important that before using any medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding, consult a physician and explain beyond any doubt the potential risks and benefits associated with the use of the drug. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, please inform the doctor prescribing the prescription for this medicine.
It is not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy. The use of the drug during the remainder of pregnancy is possible only after consultation with a physician and only if absolutely necessary.
It is not recommended to use the product during breastfeeding.
Can I use other preparations in parallel?

Parallel use of antibiotics (amoxicillin, cefuroxime, Doxycycline
) increases their concentration in the secretion and their penetration into the lung tissue.
You should not take medicines that inhibit the cough reflex (anti-tussive medicines, such as codeine), because this reflex promotes the removal of large secretion after liquefaction.
What side effects can occur?
Like all medicines, Ambrotaxer can also cause side effects, although it will not occur in all patients who use this medicine. Remember that the expected benefits of using the drug are usually greater than the damage resulting from the occurrence of side effects.
Flavor disorders (altered taste), hypoaesthesia, nausea, and hypoaesthesia can often occur.
Uncommon: diarrhea, vomiting, indigestion, dry mouth, abdominal pain.
Rare: urticaria, rash.
Very rarely may occur: Stevens and Johnson syndrome, epidermal necrolysis.
In addition, throat dryness, angioneurotic edema
