What is Amertil Bio?

An antihistamine with antiallergic activity.

What does Amertil Bio contain and how does it work?

The active substance is Cetirizine . This substance blocks peripheral histamine type 1 (H1) receptors. In this way, it inhibits the action of histamine, a substance that causes allergic symptoms. It is a second generation antihistamine. It has no significant effect on histamine type 2 (H2) receptors. It relieves allergic symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, swelling and itching of mucous membranes, prevents bronchospasm and skin reactions. The effect of cetirizine lasts for about 24 hours.

When should I use Amertil Bio?

The preparation is indicated in adults and children after the age of six in the treatment of symptoms of perennial and seasonal allergic rhinitis (including eye symptoms) and chronic idiopathic urticaria.

When not to use this preparation?

Unfortunately, even if there are indications to use the preparation, it can not always be used. You can not use the product if you are allergic (you are hypersensitive) to any of the ingredients and to hydroxyzine or piperazine derivatives. You can not use the product if you have severe kidney failure. Do not use the product during breast-feeding. People with galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or malabsorption of Glucose -galactose should not use this preparation.

When should you take extra care with Amertil Bio?

Certain diseases and other circumstances may constitute a contraindication to use or indication to change the dosage of the preparation. In some situations it may be necessary to carry out specific check-ups. Therefore, before using the preparation you should consult a doctor if you suspect or diagnose kidney or liver problems. Caution should be exercised in people with functional disorders of these organs.

Does this preparation affect the ability to drive vehicles?
Persons driving motor vehicles should take special care and check how they react to cetirizine, because some people may experience side effects (e.g.drowsiness, blurred vision) that may impair your ability to drive and use machines / machines.
Cetirizine may increase the effect of drugs that inhibit the central nervous system (eg analgesics, sedatives) on the ability to react and concentrate.

Dosage of Amertil Bio

The preparation is in the form of coated tablets. It is intended for oral use. Can be taken with or without food. The tablets should be swallowed with a glass of water. Do not exceed the recommended doses because it will not increase the effectiveness of the drug and may harm your health and life. If you have any doubts regarding the use of the preparation, consult a physician.
Adults and children over 12 years: 10 mg once daily.
Children 6-12. 5 mg twice daily (morning and evening).
For children under the age of 6, cetirizine is recommended as a drop or syrup.
In people with renal impairment, the doctor will reduce the dose accordingly and set the dosage in each case individually.
In elderly people without renal dysfunction, there is no need to modify the dose.
In patients with hepatic impairment without renal impairment, no dosage adjustment is necessary.
In patients with impaired liver function and renal impairment, the doctor will adjust the dosage.

Can Amertil Bio be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

During pregnancy, do not use any medicine without consulting your doctor!
It is very important that before using any medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding, consult a physician and explain beyond any doubt the potential risks and benefits associated with the use of the drug. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, please inform the doctor prescribing the prescription for this medicine.
There are no adequate data on the use of the preparation in pregnant women. The use of the drug in pregnancy is possible only after consultation with a doctor and only if definitely necessary.
Do not use the product during breast-feeding.

Can I use other preparations in parallel?

Tell your doctor about all medicines you have recently taken, including those that are over the counter.
There was no interaction of the preparation with ketoconazole, Itraconazole , Erythromycin or cimetidine.
Theophylline (a drug used to treat asthma) at a dose of 400 mg per day may reduce the rate of excretion of cetirizine. Cetirizine in combination with alcohol or central nervous system depressants may increase their central nervous system depressant effects (sedation, hypnotics).
You should not drink alcohol during treatment. Food does not reduce the absorption of cetirizine, it may reduce the rate of absorption of cetirizine.
The preparation may affect the results of allergic skin tests.

What side effects can occur?

Like all medicines, Amertil BIO can also cause side effects, although they will not occur in all patients who use this medicine. Remember that the expected benefits of using the drug are usually greater than the damage resulting from the occurrence of side effects.
The following may occur: headache and dizziness, nervousness, tiredness, drowsiness, piercing or tingling sensation (paresthesia), fainting, confusion, insomnia, agitation, nausea, edema, dry mouth, throat irritation, cough, pharyngitis, thrombocytopenia, difficulty urinating, eye disorder, blurred vision, increased heart rate (tachycardia), liver dysfunction, skin reactions (rash, urticaria, pruritus), Anaphylactic reactions (very rare, severe reactions that may be life-threatening, including throat swelling, larynx, bronchospasm, hypotension, anaphylactic shock).
