What is Ambrosan?

Mucolytic drug, thins secretions in the airways and facilitates its removal.

What does Ambrosan contain and how does it work?

The active substance of the preparation is Ambroxol . Ambroxol increases the secretion of mucus in the airways, reduces its viscosity and improves the function of the cilia of the respiratory epithelium, and thus dilutes the obstructing secretion and improves its transport. In this way, it helps to clear the airways, facilitates expectoration, does not disturb the natural cough reflex.

When should Ambrosan be used?

The product is indicated in acute and chronic lung and bronchial diseases with difficulty in expectoration of sticky secretions in the airways such as: acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, laryngitis, nose, throat, sinuses. In addition, the preparation can be used as an aid during respiratory rehabilitation in the pre- and post-operative period.

When not to use this preparation?

Unfortunately, even if there are indications to use the preparation, it can not always be used. You can not use the preparation if you are allergic (you are hypersensitive) to any of the ingredients. It is not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy or during breastfeeding.

When should you take extra care with Ambrosan?

Certain diseases and other circumstances may constitute a contraindication to use or indication to change the dosage of the preparation. In some situations it may be necessary to carry out specific check-ups. Therefore, before using the preparation you should consult a doctor if you have impaired kidney or liver function, stomach ulcer and / or duodenal ulcer, weak cough reflex or ciliary cleansing disorder (eg permanent cilia syndrome). In these cases, caution should be used during treatment. In patients with renal or hepatic impairment, appropriate dosage adjustments by the physician are necessary. In patients with peptic ulcer disease and / or duodenal ulcer may be used only at the express recommendation of a physician. In patients with asthma, the preparation may initially cough.
In parallel with the preparation should not use drugs that inhibit the cough reflex.
In the case of lying patients, if the expectoration is not expectorated, it should be sucked.
Occasionally, the use of the preparation may be associated with the appearance of severe skin lesions: Stevens and Johnson syndrome, erythema multiforme and toxic necrosis. These states are life-threatening. If there are any changes in the skin or mucous membranes, it is necessary to immediately consult a physician and immediately prevent the cessation of the use of the preparation.
Do not use the preparation immediately before bedtime.
The preparation for children can only be used at the request of a doctor.
Additional information about the other ingredients of the preparation:
- the preparation contains lactose; people with galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or Glucose -galactose malabsorption should not use this preparation, or should consult a physician before using it.

Does this preparation affect the ability to drive vehicles?
There are no reports of effects on the ability to drive or use machines / machines.

Dosage of Ambrosan

The preparation is in the form of tablets. It is intended for oral use. The tablets should be taken after a meal, swallowed whole with water. The preparation should not be used immediately before bedtime. Do not exceed the recommended doses because it will not increase the effectiveness of the drug and may harm your health and life. If you have any doubts regarding the use of the preparation, consult a physician.
Adults: 30 mg (1 tablet) 3 times a day for the first 2-3 days, followed by 30 mg (1 tablet) 2 times a day.
The preparation for children can only be used at the request of a doctor.
Children over 6 years of age: 15 mg (0.5 tablets) twice a day.
Do not use in children under 6 years of age.
In patients with impaired renal and hepatic function, it may be necessary to reduce the dose used; please consult your doctor.

Can Ambrosan be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

During pregnancy, do not use any medicine without consulting your doctor!
It is very important that before using any medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding, consult a physician and explain beyond any doubt the potential risks and benefits associated with the use of the drug. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, please inform the doctor prescribing the prescription for this medicine.
It is not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy. The use of the drug during the remainder of pregnancy is possible only after consultation with a physician and only if absolutely necessary.
It is not recommended to use the product during breastfeeding.

Can I use other preparations in parallel?

Parallel use of antibiotics (amoxicillin, cefuroxime, Doxycycline , Erythromycin ) increases their concentration in the secretion and their penetration into the lung tissue.
You should not take medicines that inhibit the cough reflex (anti-tussive medicines, such as codeine), because this reflex promotes the removal of large secretion after liquefaction.
Ambroxol and Caffeine intensify each other's effects.
The use of any other medicines in parallel with the preparation should be consulted with a physician.

What side effects can occur?

Like all medicines, Ambrosan can also cause side effects, although it will not occur in all patients who use this medicine. Remember that the expected benefits of using the drug are usually greater than the damage resulting from the occurrence of side effects.
The following may occur: nausea, vomiting, constipation, elevated temperature, hypersensitivity reactions (rash, swelling, pruritus), weakness, headache, increased salivation, watery runny nose, difficulty in passing urine. Occasional: Anaphylactic reactions (very rare, severe life-threatening reactions involving swelling of the throat, larynx, bronchospasm, hypotension, shock), severe skin lesions: Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis. If any of these side effects occur, please consult your doctor.
