What is Aescin?

Preparation protecting the walls of blood vessels, strengthening the capillaries.

What does Aescin contain and how does it work?

The active substance of the preparation is escin. Escin is the main saponin of chestnut seeds. This substance reduces the permeability of the walls of blood vessels, acts anti-swell and anti-inflammatory. It improves the flexibility and condition of the tension of venous walls. It improves microcirculation, strengthens capillaries. After oral administration, it is well absorbed. Excreted by the kidneys and bile ducts.

When to use Aescin?

The preparation is indicated:
· In the treatment of chronic venous insufficiency, varicose veins of varicose veins, anal haemorrhoids
· In the treatment of lower limb arthritis
· In the prevention and treatment of hematomas and postoperative and post-traumatic swelling.

When not to use this preparation?

Unfortunately, even if there are indications to use the preparation, it can not always be used. You can not use the preparation if you are allergic (you are hypersensitive) to any of the ingredients.
Use of the preparation in people with severe renal impairment is contraindicated.
It should not be used in pregnant women or in women who are breast-feeding.
Do not use in children or adolescents up to 18 years of age.

When should you take extra care with Aescin?

Certain diseases and other circumstances may constitute a contraindication to use or indication to change the dosage of the preparation. In some situations it may be necessary to carry out specific check-ups.
In the event of any of the following symptoms, please consult your doctor immediately:

The kidneys should be monitored during the administration period.
It should be remembered that the use of the preparation does not replace the use of other preventive measures, such as wearing compression stockings, bandaging legs, and cold water wraps. It is extremely important that these measures are applied in accordance with previous recommendations.
Due to the lack of sufficient clinical experience, the preparation should not be used in children or adolescents up to 18 years of age.
Additional information about the other ingredients of the preparation:
· The product contains lactose; people with galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or malabsorption of Glucose -galactose should not use this preparation;
· The product contains sunset yellow (E110), which may cause allergic reactions.

Does this preparation affect the ability to drive vehicles?
There was no effect of the preparation on the ability to drive vehicles and operate equipment / machines.

Dosage of Aescin

The preparation is a film-coated tablet and is intended for oral use. Use the preparation as recommended. Do not exceed the recommended doses because it will not increase the effectiveness of the drug and may harm your health and life. If you have any doubts regarding the use of the preparation, consult a physician.
Adults: 2 tablets (40 mg) 3 times a day. The tablets should be taken after a meal with a lot of liquid. After 2-3 months, in the maintenance treatment, the dose can be reduced to 2 tablets (40 mg) twice a day.
When using oral contraceptives, the dose can be doubled.
Prophylactically, it can be used at least 16 hours before surgery.
There is no need to change the dosage in the elderly.
It is not recommended for use in children and adolescents up to 18 years of age.

Can Aescin be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

During pregnancy, do not use any medicine without consulting your doctor!
It is very important that before using any medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding, consult a physician and explain beyond any doubt the potential risks and benefits associated with the use of the drug. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, consult a physician before using the product.
It should not be used in pregnant women or in women who are breast-feeding.

Can I use other preparations in parallel?

Tell your doctor about all medicines you have recently taken, including those that are over the counter.
The preparation may increase the effect of anticoagulants.
The use of the aminoglycoside preparation and antibiotics should be avoided in parallel due to the risk of increased aminoglycoside toxicity on the kidneys.
Some antibiotics (eg cephalosporins, ampicillin) can increase escin concentration in the blood and increase its activity.

What side effects can occur?

Like all medicines, Aescin may also cause side effects, although they will not occur in all patients using this medicine. Remember that the expected benefits of using the drug are usually greater than the damage resulting from the occurrence of side effects.
Uncommon: headache and dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, discomfort in the stomach. Rare allergic dermatitis (pruritus, rash, erythema, eczema, urticaria); very rarely severe hypersensitivity reactions (in some cases with bleeding). Very rarely arterial hypertension, increased heart rate (tachycardia), genital haemorrhage. If bleeding or hypersensitivity reactions occur, discontinue use and consult a physician.
