What is Asamax?
Anti-inflammatory preparation used in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
What does Asamax contain and how does it work?
The active substance of the preparation is mesalazine (another name is aminosalicylic acid), a derivative of salicylic acid. Prostaglandins and leukotrienes play a significant role in the development of inflammation. Mesalazine also prevents the synthesis of other inflammatory mediators and reduces the harmful effects of free radicals. It has a direct anti-inflammatory effect in the intestinal wall. Mesalazine and its metabolites are excreted partly in the urine and partly in the faeces. Mesalazine crosses the placenta and into breast milk.
