What does ACNE-DERM contain and how does it work?

The active substance of the preparation is azelaic acid. Its effectiveness in the treatment of acne vulgaris results from the antibacterial effect and a direct effect on the inhibition of excessive keratinization of the epidermis.
Azelaic acid significantly inhibits bacterial growthPropionibacterium acnesand reduces the fraction of free fatty acids on the surface of the skin.
The studies have shown that it also inhibits the growth of keratinocytes and normalizes their terminal differentiation, and also accelerates the reduction of the number of comedones.
It also inhibits the growth and excessive activity of abnormal melanocytes. This effect is dependent on the dose and duration of action of azelaic acid. The molecular mechanism of this process is not fully understood; the effectiveness of azelaic acid in the treatment of hyperpigmentation is associated with its inhibitory effect on DNA synthesis and / or on cellular respiration of abnormal melanocytes.
