What is AscoRutiCal?
A combined preparation, used as an aid in the treatment of colds.
What does AscoRutiCal contain and how does it work?
A combined preparation containing ascorbic Caffeine
(vitamin C), rutin and Calcium
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is indispensable in many metabolic transformations (similarly as routine is an antioxidant, protects against free radicals, participates in oxidation and reduction processes, takes part in the biosynthesis of collagen, folic acid, adrenocortical hormones, facilitates absorption of iron). In addition, it has anti-inflammatory effects.
Rutin is a naturally occurring plant flavone (its molecule consists of disaccharide and quercetin, a naturally occurring flavonoid derivative). It has a protective effect on blood vessels and antioxidant properties. It reduces the permeability of capillary walls, strengthens them and acts anti-oedematous. It improves the tension condition of venous walls and blood flow. It also has anti-inflammatory effects. As an antioxidant, routine minimizes the harmful effects of free radicals and reduces the oxidation of vitamin C, prolonging its action. In addition, routine influences the absorption of vitamin C contained in the preparation.
Calcium is the basic mineral component necessary to maintain electrolyte balance in the body and proper functioning of many regulatory mechanisms. Calcium deficiency leads to neuromuscular disorders and bone demineralization.

Calcium salts administered orally reduce the absorption of Tetracycline
s and fluorine compounds (a 3-hour interval between administration of these drugs and calcium salts is necessary).
Vitamin D, parathyroid hormone and acidic food increase the absorption of calcium, while calcitonin, glucocorticoids, excess lipids, alkaline reaction of food, phytates (cereal products), oxalates (spinach, rhubarb), phosphates (milk and its products) reduce the absorption of calcium.
High doses of calcium administered simultaneously with cardiac glycosides (derivatives of Digoxin
and strophantin) intensify their action and may lead to arrhythmia.
Diuretic thiazide drugs increase calcium reabsorption, help to lead to hypercalcaemia.
High doses of calcium may reduce the effect of Verapamil
and other calcium channel blockers in combination with vitamin D.
Vitamin C in doses higher than Ig per day may reduce the effectiveness of tricyclic antidepressants, phenothiazine derivatives, and may increase the serum concentration of concomitantly used estrogens.
