What is Allergodil ?

An antihistamine with antiallergic activity.

What does Allergodil contain and how does it work?

The active substance is azelastine. Azelastine blocks peripheral histamine type 1 (H1) receptors. In this way, it inhibits the action of histamine, a substance that causes allergic symptoms. It is a second generation antihistamine. Relieves allergic symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, swelling and itching of mucous membranes. Applied topically (eye drops, nasal spray) brings relief after only a few minutes and its effect lasts for up to 12 hours.

When to use Allergodil?

The preparation is indicated for the treatment of the symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis.

When not to use this preparation?

Unfortunately, even if there are indications to use the preparation, it can not always be used. You can not use the preparation if you are allergic (you are hypersensitive) to any of the ingredients. It is not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy or during breastfeeding. Do not use in children under 6 years of age.

When should you take special care with Allergodil?

Certain diseases and other circumstances may constitute a contraindication to use or indication to change the dosage of the preparation. In some situations it may be necessary to carry out specific check-ups.
The product is intended only for external use, locally on the nasal mucosa. The active substance is absorbed into the body directly through the nasal mucosa, which allows for its quick action and reduced exposure to systemic side effects.

Does this preparation affect the ability to drive vehicles?
Rarely, some people may experience side effects (eg tiredness and exhaustion, dizziness, weakness) that may impair your ability to drive or use machines / machines. Persons who will experience the above-mentioned effects after using the preparation should not drive or operate machines / machines.
Consumption of alcohol may exacerbate the adverse effect of the preparation on the psychomotor efficiency and the ability to concentrate.

Dosage of Allergodil

The preparation is a nasal spray. 1 dose (1 actuation) contains 0.14 mg of active substance. The preparation should be administered using the applicator, keeping the head in an upright position. Do not exceed the recommended doses because it will not increase the effectiveness of the drug and may harm your health and life. If you have any doubts regarding the use of the preparation, consult a physician.
Adults and children after 6 years of age:
1 dose for each nostril twice daily (equivalent to 0.56 mg per day).
The preparation can be used to relieve symptoms, but not for more than 6 consecutive months.

Can I use Allergodil during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

During pregnancy, do not use any medicine without consulting your doctor!
It is very important that before using any medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding, consult a physician and explain beyond any doubt the potential risks and benefits associated with the use of the drug. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, please inform the doctor prescribing the prescription for this medicine.
There are no adequate data on the use of the preparation in pregnant women. It is not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy. The use of the drug during the remainder of pregnancy is possible only after consultation with a physician and only if absolutely necessary.
Do not use the product during breast-feeding.

Can I use other preparations in parallel?

There are no known interactions of the preparation with other drugs.

What side effects can occur?

Like all medicines, Allergodil can cause side effects, although they will not occur in all patients who use this medicine. Remember that the expected benefits of using the drug are usually greater than the damage resulting from the occurrence of side effects.
The following may occur: local irritation of nasal mucous membranes (burning, tingling, pruritus, sneezing, nosebleeds), bitter taste in the mouth (often due to inappropriate position during application eg excessive head tilts), nausea, dizziness, fatigue, exhaustion, weakness. Very rarely possible hypersensitivity reactions (rash, pruritus, urticaria).
