What is Aknemycin?

Antibiotic from the group of macrolides, applied topically in the treatment of acne vulgaris.

What does Aknemycin contain and how does it work?

The active substance is Erythromycin , an antibiotic from the macrolide group, produced by the strainSaccharopolyspora erythraea(formerlyStreptomyces erythraeus). The mechanism of action of erythromycin, common for the whole group of macrolides, consists in inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial proteins. This is done by blocking bacterial ribosomes, cell structures necessary for protein synthesis. This prevents growth and multiplication of bacterial cells. Erythromycin is classified as a bacteriostatic substance, it is effective against many species of microorganisms. When applied topically, it is minimally absorbed and its systemic effect is negligible.

When should I use Aknemycin?

The product is indicated for the local treatment of acne vulgaris, especially inflammatory and with the presence of papules and pustules.

When not to use this preparation?

Unfortunately, even if there are indications to use the preparation, it can not always be used. You can not use the preparation if you are allergic (you are hypersensitive) to any of the ingredients.
